Volunteer Role Descriptions

PRAYER - volunteers who commit to pray for the LOVE DENVER 08 project before, during and after; this role can be active through prayer walking or windshield praying in church vans or cars during the project or passive from home.

CHURCH SITE ROLES:

FOOD PREP - hot food or cold meal preparations at local church sites.  Riverside Baptist Church will serve as one of two hot meal preparation sites under the management of Nancy Berlin.  Additional hot food preparation and all cold meal (sandwich) preparation sites will be determined based on need and DNC zone assignments.

FOOD DELIVERY - van delivery of prepared hot and cold foods.  No CDL is required but all drivers are required to complete a one-hour Defensive Driver on-line course for insurance purposes.  All van deliveries will have police assistance negotiating Denver City routes.

SUPPLIES - working with movement of food and supplies from on-site refrigerated units to kitchens and from kitchens to delivery vehicles.

DRIVERS** - people-mover drivers requiring CDL and Defensive Driver course completion (on-line course with host insurance).  In addition, these drivers must qualify for local church vehicle insurance requirements.  Drivers will move people from Riverside Baptist Church to host sites throughout downtown.

MEDIA - story reporting, photography and website management to tell the story of this project before, during and after August 23-27.

COMMUNICATIONS - assist with providing live-time communication between site commanders, church sites, host sites, and supply/delivery personnel.

ICE EVANGELISM - intentional evangelism events in the city away from churches and host sites.

HOST SITES (Hotel courtesy sites):

HOST - team captain responsible for distribution of food and courtesy expressions at each hotel site.  Host will be responsible to communicate food and supply needs to appropriate persons.

FOOD SERVICE - responsible for serving and preparing foods at host sites.

COURTESY - service to first responders including clean-up and site preparation.

CHAPLAIN - pastors, paid staff members of local churches or trained chaplains to interact with officers on a personal and spiritual level.

** - All drivers will be required to complete an online defensive driving course in order to satisfy insurance coverage requirements.  Valid CDL license and a clean driving record required to drive commercial vehicles.
